  1. So far, the Hunger Games has kept me turning the pages. My favorite part was opening ceremonies for the Hunger Games. I liked that Katniss and Peeta were coal miners and that they were "on fire" and Suzanne Collins described that part very well and it was a very vivid picture in my head. I also liked the part at the reaping when Primrose got drawn and Katniss stood up for her and took her place. I thought that was very sweet and very risky on Katniss' part. Hopefull she'll win! I love the Hunger Games so far!

  2. Right now i am reading the Hunger Games. It is really good and very interesting. I absolutly hate the idea of reaping day. I think it is very nice of Katniss to take all the ... instead of spliting them with Prim and rather her have to go through the torture of the games then Prim. I like the "friendship" between Gale and Katniss and how she doesn't want Gale to go through it either. During the ceromony i think it is so sisterly that Katniss would voluntere to got for Prim. I thoght the train ride was very interesting. the stylist were very wierd while getting her ready for the ceromony. i think that the outfit on fire was a cool idea, but if i was her i would not even think about wearing something on fire. so as you can tell i like the Huger Games.

  3. Right now I am reading a book called Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. If you are looking for a great book that will grab you fast. It starts talking about a girl named Katmiss who lives in a place that is in poverty. her father died when she was young and her mother practically shut down and so she takes over. So she`s provides food and cares for her sister Prim also. Then comes the reaping! this is the time that they figure out who participates in the hunger games. Prim enters the drawing once but Katniss enter more. Prime name gets drawn and so Katniss volunters to protect her sister. So now Katniss is out to try and stay alive in the Hunger Games.

  4. Hey everbody! THis is my first time blogging. My friends and I just are reading this awesome book called the Hunger Games. Its set in a dystopian type future where North America has been devatated by some unkown catastrophe. The new nation that rose from these ashes is called Panem. These guys have a real originial name for their capitol city, The Capitol.Panem is divided into 12(formerly 13) districts that are each responsible for makeing something for the Capitol. For example, the main character, Katniss, lives in District 12.More specifically, The Seam, which is a poverty stricken town where most people either mine coal and barely get by, or die of starvation. Mm, difficult choice,I mean, either risk my life every day just to eat like three loaves of bread and be ruled by mostly stuck up snobs, or slowly die of starvation. Anyway, Katniss basically provides for herself, her 12 year old sister Primrose( Prim for short) and her distant mother who still is in depression over Katniss's father's death ten years prior. Hunger Games starts off with Katniss meeting her friend Gale in the woods on the day of the Reaping, which is a holiday for everyone in Panem, where you get dressed up and meet in (for District 12) a big public square where one boy and one girl are chosen as tributes for the Hunger Games. The Hunger Games are basically a sadistic way of punidhing the districts of Panem for civil war commited roughly 75 years ago where one boy and girl from each district compete against 2 kids form the other districts in a fight to the death. And in this fight, there's only one winner. Anyway, Katnisss and Gale meet in the woods, trade, and head home to prepare for the reaping. At the actual event, the only living champion from District 12, Haymitch, scrambles on stage drunk and makes a fool of himself. After Effie Trinket, the Capitol official who overrsees the event, calls out the name of the girl tribute and to someone's horror, the tribute is Katniss's little sister, Prim! In desperation, Katniss volunteers to take Prim's place, and is excepted! THe other tribute is Peeta Mellark, a baker's son who helped feed Katniss's family with bread after her dad died once. And she never said thank you, its going to quite hard while she has to try to kill him. Well, I stopped for the day after I got to where she and Peeta are headed to the Capitol on a train. Well, see ya next time, or not!

  5. I started The Hunger Games 8 days ago. It has actually impressed me, despite the fact I don't particularly love science fiction. After just two chapters, Katniss (the main character, a 16 year old girl from the poorer section of District 12) has gone from hunting secretly in the woods with Gale, to volunteering in the most cruel Hunger Games. These Games, designed by the Capitol of Panem to remind the twelve Districts not to rebel like they had once before. Each year at the reaping, two tributes are selected from each district to participate in a fight to the death inside in an arena, which is televised to all the districts.
Katniss is thrown into these games to save Prim, her younger sister, who was chosen. Immediately after the male tribute- Peeta Mellark- she is whisked off on a train to the Capitol, where training begins. Katniss struggles to be friendly to Peeta (their gameplan for the games, which was established by their mentor, Haymitch) while knowing she will have to kill him if she wants to survive; she also suffers with the seemingly obvious fact that she does NOT stand a chance at survival. Even after she goes in to a private viewing with the Gamemakers, she knows she will get a low score for sponsors, because she shot an arrow at them in idignation at their ignorance of her.
However, when the scores arrive, and Katniss receives an 11, which is very high, she begins to wonder at the strangeness (and cruelty) of the Games. The worst, though is Peeta's sudden "betrayal" by not wanting to train with her.
The entire structure is both confusing and discreetly cruel. I find difficulty in seeing how some people in the Districts enjoy the complete annihilation of eleven people, or how the Capitol can be so hostile and devoid of emotion. Even though the Capitol controls so strongly, it is exciting to see the small gestures Katniss takes in rebellion: going over the fence in her district to hunt; and when she becomes a tribute, wearing the mockingjay pin given to her by a schoolmate, the subtle sign of stubborn objections to the Capitol's wishes.

  6. I would highly recommend The Hunger Games to anyone just by how good the book is in the first few chapters. However, I disagree with the Capitol people and the reaping. I do not think it is far that every year they draw a boy name and a girl from the glass ball, and then take them to the Capitol to play the games and try to be the last one stading and how they just think about the games as a reality show for people to watch back in the districts. It is very weird how they are fighting to kill eachother but, they are still treated better than they are at home, and how everyone is trying to be so nice but really are just going to end up killing you in the end.
The rebellion- I love how Katniss and Petta were very rebelious in the opening ceremonies by holding hands, and then how then always talked and laughed with eachother.
Over all by what I have read so far I would definitly recommend this book to anyone, and I cannot wait to finsh reading the rest.

  7. these is amanda this is the hungry games talk. the hungy games is a futuristic book. lets just say that they are not my faverite kind of books. beacuse i cant picture books, beacuse clearly i have not been to the future. so i dont konw what it is like. when they run in the woods, and they have to get there names pulled out of the crystal ball. is there trash everywhere? the smell of the burnt bread. what it is like to go to district 12 and the fire that does not burn when you pass through it. the girl with out the tounge. but it starts to get good when the start fighting. talk to you next time when we tell about the fighting.

  8. OK, now I could tell something was up between Peeta and Katniss. Because before the reaping and the Hunger Games Peeta was being nice and he gave Katniss some slightly burnt bread. Which she thought he burt it on purpose knowing he could give it to her. And then as they went into the games they had a good relatoinship with each other and had built a strong trust between each other. So all of there teaching sessions with Haymicht they chose to do together instead of on there own. Even as they were riding out in there charriot type thing out so that people could get a look at this years tributes they held hands. But all the other tributes were standing as far apart as possible from each other acting like the other wasn`t there and trying to I guess "Win the crowd". Still being friends they stick together. Then one day Peeta decides he wants to take his interview "class" on his own and not with Katniss. Which I don`t blame him because I wouldn`t want a person who I`m trying to kill and who is trying to kill me to no my plans or stratigies. So will this be the end of there good, tight relatoinship? So will this take a big turn for them or even the Hunger games?
