Okay book club members, what's happening in The Hunger Games with Peeta and Katnis now? Tell me what you think about the latest developments in the novel.
One word to describe the past few chapters of the Hunger Games is BETRAIL!!!! Peeta is showing his true colors as the book goes on! First, he requested private lessons after the whole book him and Katniss had been all lovey-dovey and sweet to each other. That was not smart on his part I think. It revealed him as a hypocrite to Katniss, Cinna, Haymitch, and Effie, which was the last thing he needed. Then, at the scoring ceremonies, he told everyone that he loved Katniss... I mean how many times can you change your mind in a day?!?! So now he's known as "lover boy" to all the other competeors but to Katniss, he's known as "THE LOSER HYPOCRITE THAT I UNFORTUNATLEY HAD TO COME HERE WITH!!!!!". Then, the games begin and Katniss takes off going in the oppisite direction than everybody else! Later that night, when the faces of the people that had died appear on the sky, she supprisingly was happy not to see Peeta's face appear. Soon after that though, she heard his voice! He had ganged up with all of the Carrers from districts 1,2,and 4 and they were trying to find and kill Katniss! Soon after they passed her, she, as quickly as she could dehydrated, hiked in the opposite direction. She found water, and who knows what tricks Peeta has up his sleeve! Peeta is definitley turning on his words! I can't wait to keep reading! :)
Hey erverbody! The Hunger Games have taken an interesting turn. Now that the actual games have begun, Katniss's whole world has turned upside down! Fiirst she botched her chance at a set of silver bow and arrows, and then she had to contend witht the fact she had to run away from the only available source of water. She probaly hiked halfway across the arena, but managed to find a hididng place in some trees. After she watched the anthem, she managed to get some sleep. LAter, some idiotic tribute decided to light a fire about twenty feet from Katniss. Needless to say, this plan failed when the fire starter was ambushe by the career pack and supposedly kille. Katniss gets another shocker when it turns out that Peeta is with them and they're trying to kill her! Fortunately, after Peeta kills the tribute by the fire, they move on without seeing Katniss. Later, Katniss becomes dehydrated from a long hike, but finds a stream and makes camp. But, lo and behold, she wakes up to a walll of fire, something to "spice up" the games, just as Katniss manages to get under cover, it turns out the Gamemakers set up the something that shoots fireballs! Katniss takes a hit to her calf but manages to gat away. Fortunately, she finds a a stream and mananges to cool off.
I read more of the Hunger Games and it is getting good. Once she arrives at the Capitol she sees a whole new perspective on things. She sees a feast that is provided at every meal. Then when her stylest come she is amazed at how different it is and how different. Then she is gets shocked because when she walks into the areana they want to set her cape on fire so will she get out of this one or not? We will have to find out latter. Don` tforget if you just finished a book or are looking for one this is a great one!
Betrayal- that is the only word to descibe this book. First, Peeta and Katniss start off training together but, then Peeta asked to be coached privatley. Even though the games are supposed to be about being the last person standing, everyone is treating the contestants from each district like they are celebrities. The all have personal stylist and they get to eat a ton of food. The scoring session was a very good part to read. My favorite part of this scene was when Katniss shot the bow-and-arrow through the apple. This part really made the judges start paying attention. When Katniss left she was really worried that shw might get arrested or that something would happen to her mom and Prim. In the score showing Katniss was very shocked because she scored an eleven, and the highest score you can get is a twelve. During the interview, there was a HUGE shock when peeta talks about the girl he has a crush on and then it turns out that the secret girl was Katniss. After the interview, it was time for the games to begin. Haymitch had told Peeta and Katniss to go find water first, but Katniss tried to be smart and go for the backback in the middle. When she did this she almost got killed by a knife that went right into her backpack. Another example to describe betrayal was when Peeta ganged up with a few other boys. Who knows what is going to happen to Peeta and Katniss next.
The newest developement in The Hunger Games: Peeta no longer wants to train with Katniss. Katniss feels immensely betrayed, but has little time to really think about that. The interviews right before the Games approach, and with it comes lots of practice in high heels and options for how to portray herself. When it comes, she is dressed in a jeweled gown, and because of her nervous heart-to-heart with Cinna, her stylist, speaks to him when asked serious questions. Peeta has a whole other idea for his interview. He announces his deepest love- for Katniss. She is shocked and outraged, but quickly realizes it saves her from looking solely like a foolish girl twirling in a pretty dress. The morning of the Games, Katniss is nervous, and has only a moment to hear Cinna's wish of good luck before she is propelled up to the arena. Although she was told to immediately run into the woods for water, Katniss sees a set of bow and arrows and wants them. However, Peeta makes a motion to stop her and she misses the opportunity. She instead grabs a backpack (and is almost killed for it) and runs straight into the woods. Soon though, Katniss finds more upsetting news. Peeta joined up with the Career tributes to help them kill her. Even more frightening is her growing dehydration. It grows so severe she fears death, but a pond saves her. The next day is so calm, she begins to relax... A fire (started by the Gamemakers to make the show more interesting) ruins her rest and leaves her badly burned. She again fears death, but finds a pond to calm her burns and a tree to sleep in. Beneath the tree, however, the Career tributes make camp, and above her is a nest of tracker jackers (a dangerous, highly venomous wasp). A tiny tribute, Rue, saves Katniss from being stung by warning her. Katniss decides to cut down the nest to trouble the Careers, but receives terrible stings from it. The other Careers receive some as well. One girl dies from it, and Katniss steals the girl's bow and arrows. Peeta finds Katniss at the side of the dead girl and tells her to run. Katniss has little time to dwell on Peeta's saving her, for the tracker jacker venom makes her delirious. When she finally returns to her senses, she encounters and makes an alliance with Rue, who has been following her. The girls share their knowledge of food. Rue treats Katniss's stings, and Katniss treats Rue's burns with an ointment given to her through Haymitch by a sponsor. Both girls are mad that the Careers have so much food, so they plan to destroy it. Katniss shoots an arrow into a bag of apples and is blasted backward by a network of mines. She crawls into dense bushes just before the Careers return. Peeta is not among them. Katniss is confused, weak, and very frightened...
This was the greatest book i have EVER read. I have only read like 4 books my entire life but this one is the grandaddy of them all. I got about 1/4 of the way through the book and i could not stop reading. My favorite part is probably... the whole thing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! but really it was probably when she found peeta in the mud. I felt like the book ended badly but im sure the next ones are going to be great and cant wait to read the next two!
I absolutely LOVED the Hunger Games. I read all three books in the series but the first book was my favorite.I never wanted to put down the book once I had started. You knew Katniss was a very caring big sis when she went in the games instead of her sister. As Peeta is so nice to her on the train to the games katniss thinks he is trying to get on her goodside so he can kill her but really he's liked her ever since they were little. Haymitch uses this as an advantage through out the games to keep the sponsers coming but at the end they have to stay in love after they almost die for each other but take the posionous berries out at the last moment. So it seems as if they tricked the capitol which makes the citizens of Panem want to start an uprising.
i really like catching fire. i even like it better than the hunger games. i thought that the way that Katniss and peeta live is kind of sad because there is never really much to do. i think that its really sad that she had to go back to play again and the thought that either peeta or katniss had to die was horrible. i think that i might not been able to trust finnick at all but there might have been a part of me that was like well he has the braclet but he could have stole it. i would have been very conflicked. luckily i would have had peeta. i think that the teamed up with the couple that hellped figure out abou the clock. if they would have not figured out about the clock that could have been really bad and they might not have survived. i think that it was smart not to tell peeta and katniss about the plan to get out but the plan was very smart. oh and backing up to the wire part that would be to difficult to explain but that was very cool and i could barely understand but what i could was good. i didnt really understand much about the plan but anyways. it was one of my favorite books ever!!!!
The hunger games is one of the better books that i have read with page-turning action everywhere. its hard to imaginine and put together a future that doesnt exist and use it the way you want it to. and even though it is supposed to be in the future Suzanne Collins adds in points showing that people still use old fashion ways of mining, fuel sources, and technologies that we would have today. it seems to me that in the book, the only major advancements are in medicine and war. sure the capitol has luxuries that seem nice and special but we can easily build what they had then if we already havent built them and if we already have built the luxuries then the rich can only afford them. in the beginning of the book theres a guy named gale that has always hunted with katniss ever since her father died and that makes you already make that prediction of those two ending up together but Suzanne then throws in a new character named Peeta. Suzanne definently knows how to keep the reader on edge and prove the reader's predictions wrong or at least make them doubt their predictions.
The Hunger Games was a great book! It takes a while to get into it, but eventually it gets so good you can't put it down. Katniss is the main character and she is a really kind person. There are so many excited adventures in this book. Rue was my favorite character because she was the smallest one, but she was a real fighter. The book was really sad, but I enjoyed it. The ending leaves you speechless and you know you have to keep reading the whole series. It's not really surprising who won, but there is a lot of great detail in the book that keeps you reading. This book is a must read! The author makes you feel like you are really there. The ending wasn't very good, but it really makes you want to read the next two. And I can't wait to read them!!!
Overall I think that Catching Fire was a very interesting book. The end left me hanging so now I definitely have to read Mockingjay. I think that it would be very sad if I was Katniss. She just got done with the last hunger games and now she has to go compete in the Quarter Quell.... that would stink! The arena was a whole lot different from the last hunger games that Katniss and Peeta were in. The thing that seemed the weirdest was how the arena was like a clock and a different event took place each hour. The one that would scare me the most was the mockingjays that were repeating words of their loved one. I also think since Finnick and J. didn't tell Katniss and Peeta about their plan to help them get out. This book was one of the best I have every read.... and I will definitely have to read Mocking Jay!!!!! :)
the hunger games was awesome . it was slow at first. when you got to the second part it got better and better .at the reaping it was so sweet when she put her self in the games instead of her sister . when she was at the cornacoupia and that guy spit blood in her face it was so grose win rue died it was so sad and then she put flowerson her .it was awesome when she knocked down the nest on the carriers then her and peta teamed up and they both could live it was so sweet.then the guy announced after they won tha only one could line then they were going to kill them selfs then they both lived
The Hunger Games was a really good book once I got into it. The beginning as really slow but once I got about 8 chapters into it I couldn't put it down. Peeta was a great addition to this book because he showed how you can never give up on anyone when you love them. He was sweet and kind to Katniss when she was so uncaring to him. Katniss hated Peeta until she realized they would need each other to live in the Hunger Games. In the arena Katniss meet a young girl named Rue who saved Katniss's life. Rue warned Katniss about the tracker jacker nest above her head and Katniss used the nest as a way to kill other opponents. As Katniss killed the others she had also gotten stung. As she was walking to get away from the nest she heard something behind her and when she turned around it was Peeta. She was about to kill him but couldn't keep the arrow straight. Peeta told Katniss to go away before the others showed up. Peeta saved Katniss and does this throughout the book. This book was so good and I really didn't like the ending but I have started reading the second one and it is so good! This series is very good so far. I will read all the books and hope they are all as good as the first.
